Ingredients
- 400g beef mince
- 125g dried egg noodles
- 1 onion
- 1 red bell pepper
- 1 carrot
- 100g frozen soya beans
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- oil, for greasing
For Sauce
- 100ml water
- 50ml dark soy sauce
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp cornflour
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 garlic clove
- a pinch of black pepper
- ½ tsp chilli powder
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- a pinch of Chinese five-spice
Method
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the noodles and cook for 4-5 minutes or until al dente. Drain the noodles and immediately rinse them with cold water to stop the cooking process. Drain the noodles again and set them aside.
In a bowl, combine water, soy sauce, honey, cornflour, and sesame oil.
Mince the garlic clove and add it to the mixture.
Stir in the seasonings (black pepper, chilli powder, ground ginger, and Chinese five spice).
Mix everything together and set aside for later use.
Peel and cut the onion into wedges, the pepper into sticks, and the carrot into thin slices.
Heat a large frying pan or wok over high heat. Add enough oil to coat the bottom of the pan.
Add the minced beef and cook, stirring frequently, for 5-6 minutes, or until browned all over.
Add the vegetables and frozen soybeans to the pan.
Stir-fry for another 5-6 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
Stir the sauce and pour it into a pan. Cook over medium heat for 1-2 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
Add the noodles and stir to combine. Cook for an additional minute, or until the noodles are warmed through.
Serve immediately, sprinkled with sesame seeds.
