Traditional Scones
A traditional British scones recipe that you can make with ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen! These easy tea time treats are perfect for any occasion, whether you top them with jam and cream, sultanas, or nothing at all.

Ingredients
- 350g self-raising flour how to?
- 175ml warm milk
- 4 tbsp of sugar
- 90g of softened unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp of lemon juice
- 1 tsp of baking powder
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
- 1 egg
Additions:
- a handful of sultanas
- Strawberry jam
- softly whipped double cream what is?
Method

Heat the oven to 180C.
Line a baking tray with baking paper.
Sift all dry ingredients and place them in the bowl.
Add soft butter, vanilla extract and lemon juice then pour warm milk.
Using a hand combine all ingredients to make a soft dough.1
Do the above steps as quick as possible so the butter doesn’t melt.
If the dough is too sticky add some more flour.
Turn on the floured surface and knead very lightly.
Using a roller make the 2cm thick dough and cut your scones with a round cookie cutter.
Place into the lined baking tray.

Beat the egg to make an egg wash and brush your scones on top.

Bake for around 15 minutes until nicely golden on top.
Enjoy with your favourite jam and clotted cream.
