Ingredients
- 1 kg pork loin steaks, 8 slices
- 5 onions
- 3 garlic cloves
- oil, for greasing
- 1 vegetable stock cube
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 tsp ground paprika
- salt, for taste
- black pepper, for taste
- 3 bay leaves
- a few allspice berries
- 1 tbsp plain flour
Method

Dissolve the vegetable stock cube in 500 ml of hot water, mix well, and set aside.
Peel the onions, cut them in half, then slice them thinly.
Peel and finely chop the garlic cloves.

Prepare a frying pan — a grill pan works well — and lightly grease it with oil.

Fry each slice of meat on both sides until nicely browned.

In a separate, slightly deeper pan, heat some oil.

Add the sliced onion and sauté.
As it cooks, stir in the chopped garlic and continue frying until the onion begins to brown.
You can do these steps at the same time, but if that’s not possible, cook all the meat first, then sauté the onion.

Transfer the fried meat into the pan with the onion and garlic and cook over a low heat.

Once all the meat is added, season with salt, black pepper, paprika, allspice, bay leaves, and mustard.

Pour in the prepared stock and bring the mixture to a boil.
Cover with a lid and simmer over a medium heat for about 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.

After the time has passed, in a small bowl, mix the flour with about 100 ml of cold water, whisking until smooth and lump-free.
Slowly pour the mixture into the pan, stirring constantly to ensure even distribution.
Taste and adjust the seasonings if needed.
Let it simmer for a few minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste and gently thicken the sauce.
Your Pork Chops in Onion Sauce are ready.

Serve with potatoes and your favourite vegetables or gherkins on the side.

For garnish, chop some fresh parsley on top.
