Ingredients
- 3 eggs
- 100ml whole fresh milk
- 200g white granulated sugar
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
- 200ml vegetable oil
- 220g self-raising flour how to?
- 1 tsp of baking powder
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp of whole milk
Additionally
- icing sugar for dusting
Method
Preheat the oven to 170°C (fan).

Prepare a baking tin (a loaf tin) and line it with baking parchment.
The recommended tin size is 15.7 x 28.3 x 6.2 cm.

In a large mixing bowl, crack the eggs. Use an electric whisk to mix briefly, then pour in the milk and continue mixing to combine.
Add the sugar and mix until it dissolves. Next, add the vanilla extract and oil, and mix all the ingredients together.

Sift the flour and baking powder, then add them to the mixture. Mix until well combined.
Divide the mixture into two parts, roughly equal.
Leave one part plain.
Mix the cocoa powder with two tablespoons of milk, then add this to the other part of the mixture and mix until smooth.

Using a spoon, alternate spooning the plain and cocoa batters into the baking tin.

Once both mixtures are used up, swirl the two colours together using a wooden skewer or straw.

Bake for 50–55 minutes at 170°C or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean.

After baking, allow the cake to cool.

Dust with icing sugar and enjoy!
